Summer EBT Program in Colorado: $120 per Child for Summer Food Assistance

Summer EBT Program: $72 Million Aid Expected for Colorado Families, Sign Up by April End

A program called Summer EBT in Colorado gives families $120 per child for food during summer. Families who get free or reduced-price school lunches must sign up by end of April. An organization called Hunger Free Colorado says this helps kids eat well when school is closed, according to the published article of Public News Service.

If families are in programs like TANF, SNAP or Medicaid they might already be signed up. If not sure, they should ask their school. They’ll need to fill out a form about their income to qualify.

Families can use the EBT cards to buy food like fruits, milk, and bread at stores that take SNAP. The cards will be sent by mail so families need to make sure schools have their right address.

Around 337,000 kids in Colorado can get this help and it could bring in $72 million for the state. Any family that qualifies for help with food can get the cards no matter their immigration status.

Hunger Free Colorado says filling out the income form also helps get more money for school meals. Right now, the school meal program needs $24 million more. And kids who get the cards might also get discounts on school things like tests or sports.
