Roper St. Francis Healthcare Settles for $1.5 Million

According to the report of The US Sun, in South Carolina a lawsuit against Roper St. Francis Healthcare is almost done. They are settling in court for $1.5 million because of a problem with emails in 2020. Lots of people about 190,000 had their personal info stolen. Even though Roper says they did do anything wrong they are still agreeing to pay up. People affected might get money back for things like bank fees or if someone stole their identity. Everyone in the group can also get a year of free credit checking. The deadline to ask for money is May 30, 2024.

North Shore University Health System to Pay $55 Million Overbilling Settlement

In Chicago another hospital North Shore University Health System is paying $55 million because they charged too much for hospital stays. People who paid for a stay between 2000 and 2015 can get some money back. But they have to hurry because the deadline is April 4, 2024. This shows hospitals need to be careful with how much they charge people and always be fair.
