The Institute for Reforming Government (IRG) found that charities supporting undocumented immigrants received almost $700,000 which was supposed to be used for pandemic recovery efforts. It was discovered by an IRG Center for Investigative Oversight inquiry.

Senator Stroebel Launches Inquiry into Madison’s Handling of COVID-19 Relief Funds

The head of the Senate Committee on Government Operations, Republican state senator Duey Stroebel, has asked Madison officials to provide information on how State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds (SLFRF) are allocated. Stroebel has launched an investigation into the city’s management of relief money and stressed the significance of responsibility in guaranteeing that taxpayer dollars be used for their intended purposes. This new information contributes to a larger story of scrutiny surrounding the countrywide distribution of COVID-19 rescue funding, with worries about possible fraud and misuse enduring long after the pandemic’s peak.
