Lacking Support For Soldiers

Service members are facing a crisis in quality of life due to poor support for soldiers.

The insufficient support for soldiers is leading to difficulties in recruiting and retaining service members.

Issues about the support for soldiers include poorly maintained barracks, food insecurity, limited healthcare and childcare access, and economic struggles for military families.

A congressional hearing highlighted the need for better support for soldiers and their families.

According to a published article by The Responsible Statecraft, the military is working to address these challenges regarding the support for soldiers.

Addressing the issue with the support for soldiers includes adding air conditioning to bases and refurbishing barracks, in hopes of improving living conditions for service members.

A Recent Survey’s Results

In a published article by Daily Mail Online, a recent study revealed that just 33% of military families would suggest pursuing a military career, a decrease from more than 50% in 2016.

The survey pointed out issues like difficulties for military spouses in securing employment, subpar health services, and inadequate housing. Military recruitment is on the decline, as many young people show little interest in enlisting.

Military families are advocating for enhancements in areas such as wages, perks, and housing. Concerns about being away from loved ones, low wages, and limited access to mental health support were also brought up in the survey. The US Army is reorganizing in response to these obstacles.
