According to cnet, the 2024 tax season enters its final month the IRS has been steadily issuing tax refunds although the total number of refunds lags behind the figures for the same period in 2023. The delayed start to the tax season and the taxpayers have been receiving their refunds with over 43 million refunds issued by March 8. The IRS had sent out over 49.1 million refunds and benefiting from a slightly earlier start to the tax season. Indications suggest that the IRS is gradually catching up to and even surpassing last year’s refund numbers as the season progresses.

Taxpayers Advised on Timely Refund Receipt Amidst IRS Guidelines
Taxpayers who file their taxes electronically and opt for direct deposit can usually expect to receive their refunds within 21 days as per the IRS guidelines. The tax season commencing on January 29 taxpayers have approximately one month remaining to submit their returns. While there was an initial delay in the issuance of refunds compared to the previous year the IRS’s continued efforts to efficiently process returns are noticeable. This suggests the possibility of an increase in refund issuance as the tax season approaches its conclusion.
