But the Civic Federation watches how money is used says this plan has problems. They think the plan isn’t clear enough and might hurt the city’s economy. Even though real estate groups tried to stop it the plan will still be voted on soon.

Civic Federation Concerned as Mayor Proposes Tax Increase to Address Homelessness

The Mayor’s office says the tax increase is needed because many people in Chicago don’t have stable homes. The Civic Federation is worried but the Mayor’s office says they have a plan. They want to use the extra tax money to help people find homes and give them support. The Mayor also wants to make it easier for builders to get permission to build new things hoping this will help the city grow.
