According to the PRESS RELEASE, Senator Josh Hawley has put forward the Protecting American Autoworkers from China Act to help American auto workers and the industry. The International Brotherhood of Teamsters supports this bill which aims to increase tariffs on cars from China and stop Chinese automakers from avoiding U.S. trade laws. China is big in making electric cars so this law wants to make sure American workers are a priority especially with Chinese companies trying to control the American market.

Teamsters Back Hawley’s Safety Concerns Over Heavier Electric Cars

The Teamsters, who represent 1.3 million workers are with Senator Hawley on this. They worry about the safety of car haulers because electric cars are heavier than regular ones. This makes it harder to stop easier to tip over and more dangerous.
