Frozen Property Tax In Missouri

The Senior Property Tax Missouri Credit Program in Jackson County allows eligible senior homeowners to freeze their property tax bills. Residents must also be eligible for Social Security retirement benefits to be part of the program regarding property tax in Missouri.

Those who are planning to be part of the program about the property tax in Missouri must also meet certain property ownership requirements. The program about the property tax in Missouri sets a base amount for the property tax bill freeze.

The program involves the property tax of Missouri has a maximum property value of $550,000. Applications for the program about the property tax in Missouri must be submitted by Dec. 31 each year, with renewal applications due by Aug. 31.

According to a published article by SmartNews, residents can apply online or in person for the said program concerning the property tax in Missouri at designated locations. The program about the property tax in Missouri aims to provide financial relief and stability for seniors in the county.

Senator Tony Luetkemeyer’s New Legislation

In a published article by KCTV, Senator Tony Luetkemeyer introduced new legislation to clarify that eligibility is based on age (62 or older) and not just Social Security benefits.

The legislation also aims to prevent counties from capping home values, like Jackson County’s $550,000 cap, to ensure all eligible seniors can qualify for the tax credit.

Some Jackson County seniors were concerned about the program’s restrictions and its potential impact on their ability to qualify for relief from property tax increases.
