The strange deaths of Shannon Lassere, 58, and Marianne Weis, 52, on North Mitthoefer Road in Indianapolis took a dramatic turn on Friday, February 9.

Man Arrested in Connection to Two Women Found Dead
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department and Marion County Prosecutor’s Office arrested and charged David Hiner, for two women found dead on the same street.
Shannon Lassere’s body was located on North Mitthoefer Road’s 2200 block on January 27, initiating an investigation. Five days later, authorities found Marianne Weis dead on the 2100 block of the same road. Police urged for enhanced vigilance after both incidents happened near each other and had similar victims’ appearances and causes of death—sharp force injuries.
Shannon Lassere, 50, and Marianne Weis, 50, are from the city’s east side. Unsettlingly, they were found face-down in knee-length denim. Many surveillance cameras from nearby businesses linked David Hiner to a victim, furthering the case. Marianne Weis and Hiner walked into an alley near Dollar General.

The Arrest of David Hiner Moves Investigation Forward
Hiner was the prime suspect after Human Trafficking and Vice Unit and forensic investigations. On February 6, Hiner freely cooperated with authorities, and a search warrant at his house the next day uncovered bloody shoes and bleached pants in his bathtub.
Hiner was found on probation in La Porte County, Indiana, complicating the case. Hiner was implicated because the blood on his shoes matched Weis and Lassere’s DNA.
Authorities believe Hiner’s arrest was a great advance, but further investigation is needed. Hiner’s arrest advances justice for Shannon Lassere, Marianne Weis, and their families. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department will investigate to find those responsible for these horrific actions.
