In Goshen, Connecticut, a woman discovered an Apple AirTag attached to her car nearly a year ago and reported it to the police. Initially, she received alerts on her phone indicating the presence of the tracking device but dismissed them, assuming they were linked to a relative’s forgotten AirPod earbuds left in her vehicle. However, when she received another alert, she conducted a thorough search and eventually found the AirTag hidden inside the front driver’s side wheel rim. This discovery left her feeling fearful for her safety and that of her family.

Elusive Suspect Found After Months in AirTag Car Tracking Case

To begin the investigation, law enforcement officials obtained a search and seizure warrant to access subscriber information associated with the AirTag’s serial number. It took several months to trace the device back to a certain individual named Anthony Magro, who was unknown to the victim.

However, when attempts were made to contact Magro, he was initially unreachable as he claimed he did not drive and needed transportation to meet with the authorities.

Despite efforts to reach Magro, including tracking his new phone number, he remained elusive, leading investigators to obtain an arrest warrant for electronic stalking. Finally, on February 7th, Magro was located and arrested at the age of 25. He has since been released from jail after posting a $10,000 bond.
