The Biden Administration identifies a group of Islamic resistance in Iraq that is responsible for the deadly attack on U.S. troops in Jordan.

In a recent development, the Biden Administration has formally identified the Islamic Resistance in Iraq as the group responsible for the devastating attack that killed on 3 U.S. troops in Jordan. This umbrella organization, comprising multiple Iran-backed militant groups, orchestrated an assault that tragically claimed the lives of 3 U.S. soldiers and left over 40 troops injured. The White House has signaled intentions for a comprehensive response to this deadly drone attack on Jordan’s Tower 22, indicating a multilayered approach is under consideration.

The Pentagon has emphasized that the attack bears the “fingerprints” of Kataib Hezbollah, a major member of the Islamic Resistance, while assessments by the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) are ongoing. Furthermore, the National Security Council spokesperson has confirmed that the Islamic Resistance not only planned but also facilitated and supplied the equipment for the attack, underscoring the gravity of the situation. President Biden is deliberating on the appropriate course of action according to the news released by AP News, emphasizing that the initial response may not represent the final action taken in this matter.

The Islamic Resistance in Iraq initially claimed responsibility for the attack, marking a stark escalation in the series of attempted strikes on bases hosting U.S. personnel in Iraq and Syria. This tragic incident resulted in the first fatalities among U.S. troops since the uptick in hostile activities began on October 17.

As tensions rise, Kataib Hezbollah has made unsettling claims of suspending military and security activities aimed at U.S. troops. The administration, however, dismissed these claims, emphasizing the need to carefully consider both words and actions in this critical situation.
