Austin Residents Receives $1,000 in Monthly Guaranteed Income; More Payments are Coming

Eligible residents in Austin, Texas received an amount of $1,000 in monthly guaranteed income and more payments are coming for Texans.

$1,000 in Monthly Guaranteed Income in Austin, Texas

A monthly guaranteed income has been proven a way to alleviate the poverty level of the residents of the country. In Austin Texas, some residents received $1,000 in monthly guaranteed income under the program Austin Guaranteed Income Pilot which started in May 2022.

In a published article in Yahoo News, around 135 low-income families received the monthly payments. Funding for 85 families came from the City of Austin, while philanthropic donations funded the other 50. This program aims to boost people out of poverty and help them afford housing.

More Payments for Texans

According to an article published in VICE, the Austin Guaranteed Income Pilot has been successful, and everyone in the state is doing the same as well. Earlier this month, Harris County launched a guaranteed-income program that gives low-income residents $500 a month.

In Denver, a basic-income program that gives some people up to $1,000 a month was recently extended after participants reported increased housing security. Furthermore, other counties in Texas are now making bold steps to help residents out of poverty amidst the rising inflation rate.
