High-poverty Areas and Priority Populations are Targeted in this New Guaranteed Income Program

The Harris County new guaranteed income program helps families below 200% of the federal poverty level. The initiative pays qualified households $500 each month for the length of the program.

The project will serve two cohorts. Residents of Harris County’s top 10 high-poverty zip codes form the first cohort. Priority populations from Harris County Public Health’s coordinated and client-centered safety net service delivery model ACCESS are in the second cohort.

The lottery process will pick participants for both cohorts to ensure fairness.
