In an unexpected move, Alonzo Menifield will replace Dominick Reyes and battle Carlos Ulberg at UFC on ESPN 54. The Las Vegas promotion revealed Reyes’ sudden withdrawal without explaining why. The welterweight match between Sean Brady and Vicente Luque will precede the light heavyweight match on March 30 at Atlantic City’s Boardwalk Hall.

Alonzo Menifield Steps In, Dominating Streak vs. Ulberg’s Momentum

Having won 4-0-1 in his past five Octagon outings since June 2022, Menifield defeated Dustin Jacoby by unanimous decision at UFC 296 on December 16. The 36-year-old Dana White’s Contender Series status is rising.

Ulberg is on a five-fight winning streak after losing his UFC debut to Kennedy Nzechukwu at UFC 259. At UFC 293, City Kickboxing’s representative submitted Da Woon Jung in the third round.

Two-time light heavyweight title challenger Dominick Reyes, has not fought since November 2022 and is on a four-fight UFC losing streak. His reason for withdrawing from the fight is unknown.
