The tragic incident unfolded at the Sunoco gas station when Mario Young, 17, and another teen allegedly shoplifted a bag of chips. Their actions prompted a confrontation with the store clerk, ultimately leading to a fatal shooting.
Security cameras captured the moments prior to the shooting, showing the store clerk attempting to stop the two teens as they were leaving with the stolen item.
A red jacket-clad store clerk was observed confronting the shoplifters outside before pursuing them in a gray sedan. The altercation escalated, culminating in gunfire and the untimely death of Asif Maknojia, the 42-year-old clerk.

Turning Themselves In
Following a citywide manhunt, Mario Young and the other teen turned themselves in for questioning, with the assistance of community activist Quanell X.
Although Young claimed self-defense, law enforcement indicated he did not speak to detectives about the case despite voluntarily surrendering himself.
While the other teenager questioned was subsequently released without charges, Young remains in custody, facing murder charges and awaiting his next court appearance.
