Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis is dogged by suspicions of professional wrongdoing regarding her selection of a special prosecutor in the Trump case.
A Storm of Accusations and Resilience
A defense lawyer says Willis had an inappropriate intimate relationship with Nathan Wade. The prosecutor is leading calls to quash the indictment and disqualify the legal team.
During a service at Big Bethel AME Church, Willis passionately defended her leadership and choice. The defense lawyer’s motion charges an inappropriate relationship between Willis and Wade, challenging Wade’s suitability. Willis didn’t address the claims in her public statements.
The motion aims to quash Trump’s indictment and bar Willis and Wade from prosecuting. Judge Scott McAfee now awaits the district attorney’s answer before hearing the motion in February. Other defense attorneys, including Trump’s Steve Sadow, may join the motion pending additional inquiries.

Tearful Defense Amid Accusations and Legal Turmoil
Willis tearfully addressed the crowd about her hardships as a woman of color in her position. She detailed the loneliness, stress, and racist remarks she faces at work. Willis said that a bogus emergency call on Christmas night falsely reported a gunshot at her home, terrifying her kid.
In response to claims of unethical ties, Willis justified her employment of three special prosecutors, citing their equal salaries and credentials. Without identifying Wade, she called him a “superstar” and wondered whether others would ever consider a black guy competent despite his accomplishments. The defense lawyer’s motion disputes Wade’s qualifications and lacks evidence of the relationship.
Willis perseveres despite charges as the legal drama unfolds. The public is still learning about these charges and their possible influence on the Trump case.
