FoodShare Program Expands Partnership for Low-Income Families in Wisconsin

A new agreement will extend the FoodShare program, which provides lifesaving food to low-income Wisconsin residents. Kroger, the owner of Pick n’ Save, and Instacart have made it possible for FoodShare users to buy essentials. Milwaukee Food Bank Hunger Task Force CEO Sherrie Tussler stressed the need for SNAP benefits, especially for those in food insecurity. Tussler stressed FoodShare’s importance for vulnerable people struggling to pay rent and medical bills.

Tussler stressed the value of the Instacart collaboration, especially for individuals without handy grocery store mobility. She noted the difficulties of grocery shopping for those without cars or who cannot use public transit. The addition of Instacart makes crucial food goods more accessible, convenient, and reliable. In the COVID-19 epidemic, when leaving the house became rare, Tussler stressed the service’s importance. In addition to immediate food access, Tussler stressed the long-term benefits of good food in minimizing weight-related and diabetes health issues.
