Indiana Mom and Three Kids Lose Lives in House Fire, All Shot

Authorities say a house fire in southern Indiana killed a mom and three children, all of whom were shot. The victims were 35-year-old Naomi Briner and her children, 12-year-old Adelia, 8-year-old Leland, and 6-year-old Iyla. Indiana State Police spokesperson Sgt. Stephen Wheeles offered these data in a Wednesday press release.

First responders received a call to a burning residence near Madison, Ohio. Despite rescue efforts, all four victims died on the spot. Sgt. Wheeles told the public that there is no safety issue while the inquiry into their deaths continues.

The authorities initially withheld the victims’ names until the Jefferson County coroner’s office could identify them. Sgt. Wheeles had previously stated that autopsies to determine death reasons would be held in Hamilton County, Ohio, 80 miles from Jefferson County.
