Delays of SNAP Benefits in Georgia
According to a published article in 11Alive, the delay in SNAP benefits is due to a lack of staff to process the backlog and new applications. On the other hand, a spokesperson for the Georgia Department of Human Services said that they are now processing the renewals of SNAP benefits.
The spokesperson said, “We are also offering stipends to incentivize field leadership staff to carry a caseload. Since January, we have hired 923 new Economic Support Specialist 1 workers–and secured millions in new funding through legislative advocacy to make that possible.”
