Investigation of Colorado’s “Green” Funeral Homes Continues

The Colorado Bureau of Investigation confirmed that the investigation of Colorado’s “green” funeral homes continues. In a press release, they said that they recovered around 189 decaying bodies, up from the initial 115 body counts first reported two weeks ago.

In a published article in FOX News, the bureau has already transported the bodies to the El Paso County Coroner’s Office on Friday. They also added that the number of counts of decaying bodies could change as the identification and investigation continues.

Phase 2 of the Investigation

According to a published article in The Associated Press, Phase 2 of the investigation is the identification of the decaying bodies and contacting family members.

Fremont County Coroner Randy Keller said, “We are conducting extensive coordination efforts as we focus on the identification of the decedents and provide notifications to ensure the families are given accurate information to prevent further victimization as they continue to grieve their loved ones.”

Furthermore, green burials are legal under Colorado law but the state requires that the body must not be buried within 24 hours and must be properly refrigerated.
