Felony Charges Filed Against the Former Chairman of the Arkansas State Medical Board

The former chairman of the Arkansas State Medical Board Brian Thomas Hyatt, 49 years old and a psychiatrist, was arrested on two felony charges due to Medicaid fraud. Online jail records show that Hyatt was being held in the Benton County Jail for the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office with no bond set.

In a published article in FOX News, Attorney General Tim Griffin said that the arrest was made after a judge from Pulaski County district court signed and issued the warrant. Meanwhile, his attorney Erin Cassinelli did not give any comments about the issue.

Attorney General Released A Statement

According to an article published in Business Insurance, Attorney General Tim Griffin said in a statement, “Prior to Dr. Hyatt’s arrest by the Rogers Police Department, prosecutors from my office and defense counsel had already reached an agreement for Dr. Hyatt’s surrender and appearance in court. We are honoring that prior agreement and look forward to his appearance in Pulaski County court later this month.”

On the other hand, Hyatt filed his resignation on May 16 and denied any allegation of wrongdoing. He wrote, “I am not resigning because of any wrongdoing on my part, but so that the board may continue its important work without delay or distraction,” He further added that he will continue to defend himself in the proper forum.
