Although team U.S. obtained a remarkable 9.5-2.5 hole during the match, rumors were aroused after Rickie Fowler was caught sitting on a bench in Italy for an afternoon fourball session, making him the only player on either side exempted from playing on Day 2. Last Friday evening, it was disclosed that an illness- some sort of bug- had infected the team.

Rickie Fowler Truth
According to Golf Channel’s Todd Lewis via USA Today, Rickie Fowler reportedly has a sinus infection. When asked if Captain Zach Johnson outed Rickie Fowler because he wasn’t feeling well, Johnson said that getting specific on individual guys is not fair and it is irresponsible to reveal who is playing for what reason and who is not for what reason. Johnson added that the case was not anyhow related to illness but instead, the reason was merely a captain’s decision. Rickie Fowler played on Sunday singles.
