Regional Transportation District in Denver Offers Lucrative $4,000 Bonuses for Bus Drivers and Mechanics

The Regional Transportation District (RTD) in Denver is on the lookout for new bus drivers, mechanics, and frontline staff. They’re sweetening the deal with $4,000 hiring bonuses. According to Colorado Politics, the recruitment event will span two days, running from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday, October 2, and Tuesday, October 3, at 3333 Ringsby Court in Denver’s RiNo neighborhood.

No prior experience is necessary to apply for the role of an Regional Transportation District bus operator, which starts with an hourly wage of $24.96. Mechanics begin at $31.46 per hour, while body shop technicians start at $29.10 an hour. These positions, along with others like signal power maintainers, electro-mechanics, and certain IT and cybersecurity roles, all come with a substantial $4,000 signing bonus.

Sources indicate that the Regional Transportation District is also willing to pay for the nine-week training required to obtain a Commercial Driver License for new bus operators. Part-time positions are available, and overtime opportunities await interested candidates. At the recruitment event, job seekers can speak with current RTD employees, and HR recruiters will be present to provide information and accept applications for positions beyond the bus operations department.

Regional Transportation District is facing a staffing shortage, with 181 bus operator vacancies out of 952 budgeted positions and 48 openings in bus maintenance out of 367 positions.
