Kevin Salazar, a 29-year-old suspected killer of Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Ryan Clinkunbroomer was seized on Monday after an hours-long standoff with deputies outside his house in Palmdale.
Kevin Salazar Fatal Shooting Incident Report
The tragic death of Clinkunbroomer occurred on Saturday. According to Fox11 Los Angeles, Clinkunbroomer was allegedly sitting in his patrol car just outside their station around six in the evening. Authorities said a vehicle halted beside it, whom they suspected was Kevin Salazar, who fatally shot Clinkunbroomer from inside. Clinkunbroomer was reportedly brought to the hospital with the help of a bystander who called 911 but unfortunately, the 30-year-old deputy was pronounced dead that night.
A report from Yahoo! News stated that Kevin Salazar attempted to barricade himself inside their home during his arrest before he was forced to come out by the SWAT authorities. Earlier on Sunday, investigators were trying to find a dark-colored 2006 to 2012 Toyota Corolla which was spotted near Clinkunbroomer’s vehicle before the ambush shooting happened. Turned out that the family of Kevin Salazar was the one who spread the picture of that car which subsequently linked to Kevin Salazar. It was not disclosed how the investigators connected the slaying of Clinkunbroomer to Kevin Salazar but tips from the public helped on the matter, according to a sheriff.
Kevin Salazar Reportedly Has Mental Health Issue
According to reports, there were numerous weapons confiscated from Kevin Salazar’s home but the family of Kevin Salazar did not confirm how was he able to acquire those weapons. Kevin Salazar’s family claimed that he has been experiencing a paranoid schizophrenic since he was diagnosed about five years ago. It is yet to be determined whether mental health is a factor or not. Clinkunbroomer was engaged to his girlfriend four days ago before he was fatally attacked.
