Record Heat in Arizona Sets New Numbers As Phoenix City Sees 110 Degrees Temperature For 53 Days

The record heat in Arizona had set new numbers as the city of Phoenix saw a temperature of at 110 degrees Fahrenheit for 53 days. Reports say the new record is now tied with the numbers set in the year 2020.

On September 8, the National Weather Service announced that the record heat in Arizona had set new numbers as the city of Phoenix saw a temperature of at least 110 degrees Fahrenheit for the 53rd day this 2023. Further reports say last July, Phoenix also set a record heat in Arizona with 31 days at or above 110 degrees Fahrenheit.

An article in US News states that the new record heat in Arizona is now tied with the numbers that were set in the year 2020 as Phoenix is expected to reach 110 degrees Fahrenheit or more for the 54th day today, September 9. On September 10, the record heat in Arizona is reportedly projected to be at 111 degrees Fahrenheit and at 109 degrees Fahrenheit on September 11.

Historic Record Heat in Arizona

According to Sarup, the historic record heat in Arizona stretched from the state of Texas across New Mexico and into the deserts of California. Consequently, as of September 2, the county of Maricopa which is the most heavily populated county in the state, documented 194 deaths in connection with the record heat in Arizona. Unfortunately, there are still 351 deaths under investigation of whether they are heat-associated as well.
