Port Allen Football Shooting Suspect Arrested – School System to Heighten Security Measures

The West Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office has confirmed the arrest of West Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office on Monday in connection with the Port Allen Football Shooting that took place during the Port Allen-Brusly High School football game last Friday. Jackson now faces charges of second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder.

Suspect of the Port Allen Football Shooting Arrested

According to The Advocate, Jarrettin Ranaud Jackson II, an 18-year-old, was arrested on Monday for his involvement in the Port Allen Football Shooting, a fatal incident that occurred during the Port Allen-Brusly High School football game on the preceding Friday. The West Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office confirmed Jackson’s arrest and stated that he has been charged with second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder. Unfortunately, no additional details are currently available.

During the Port Allen Football Shooting at halftime, Ja’Kobe Queen, a 16-year-old Brusly High School student, and Brasia Davis, a 28-year-old Port Allen resident, were both shot. Both victims were transported to the hospital, but tragically, Ja’Kobe Queen later succumbed to his injuries. In an update on her Facebook account, Brasia Davis mentioned that she was shot in the arm but assured that she was okay.

The relationship between Ja’Kobe Queen, Brasia Davis, and Jarrettin Ranaud Jackson II remains unclear. Sgt. Landon Groger from the Sheriff’s Office mentioned that there had been a fight between Ja’Kobe Queen and another man at the game, and witnesses reported that the Port Allen Football Shooting took place near the concession stand. However, it is uncertain whether a weapon has been recovered in connection with the incident.

West Baton Rouge Schools Intensify Efforts to Prevent Violence After Port Allen Football Shooting

In a report from WBRZ2, following the Port Allen Football Shooting at the high school football game, Superintendent Chandler Smith has announced a doubling of efforts to teach non-violent conflict resolution skills to students. Crisis teams with extra social workers will be present when students return to class on Tuesday.

The West Baton Rouge School Board is providing additional mental health personnel and resources to help high school students and staff dealing with the tragedy, including a QR code on the WBR Schools website and social media for accessing mental health support.

The school system is collaborating closely with the West Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office and the 18th Judicial District Attorney’s Office to investigate the Port Allen Football Shooting and implement enhanced security measures at games and school events in the future. The school system is collaborating with law enforcement and mental health agencies to address the aftermath of the Port Allen Football Shooting and promote non-violence among students.

Superintendent Smith also stresses expanding programs promoting non-violence and collaborating with local organizations to prevent future incidents like the Port Allen Football Shooting.
