As U.S. President Joe Biden is scheduled to travel to the city of Hanoi in Vietnam on September 10, the U.S.-Vietnam relations is expected to improve especially in terms of diplomacy. Unfortunately, this move may allegedly provoke the country of China with its ambiguous implications in the business world.An article in Channel NewsAsia states that despite the potential to improve the U.S.-Vietnam relations, the Southeast Asian country expresses caution about the development in fear of the reaction of China as its neighbor. Due to this, the administration of Biden is urged to increase their efforts in persuading Vietnam through several visits of high-ranking U.S. government members in the past months.

Efforts to Improve U.S.-Vietnam Relations
According to an article in the Washington Post, the Biden administration’s outstanding efforts have led Washington, D.C. to expect an improvement of the U.S.-Vietnam relations to the top of the Southeast Asian country’s diplomacy, along with China and Russia.
Even before in the month of July, officials from both the U.S. and Vietnam had expressed their optimism toward the improvement of the U.S.-Vietnam relations although there had been no official statements from either government. Nonetheless, in an attempt to appease China, Vietnam had discussed high-profile visits with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Li Qiang to Hanoi even before Biden’s arrival next week.
