According to the MBA, the average rate for a 30-year conventional mortgage increased from 7.16% to 7.31% last week.

In a report from CBS News, with rates this high and no quick signs of relief in sight, many buyers could be inclined to accept the higher prices or run the risk of being completely shut out of the present real estate market.
