The Russian missile strike occurred while Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was in Sweden for official engagements, where both nations announced a significant agreement concerning the production and utilization of Swedish CV90 infantry fighting vehicles.

The city of Chernihiv, situated in northern Ukraine, was plunged into sorrow as the Russian missile strike struck its heart, leading to the loss of lives, including that of a 6-year-old girl. The Russian missile strike unfolded on a significant morning of celebration, as numerous residents were concluding a series of festivities and departing from a church gathering.

The Russian missile strike not only impacted a main square but also caused substantial damage to a university and a theater building. Amidst the chaos, 90 individuals, including 12 children and 10 police officers, sought medical assistance to address their injuries, according to Ukrainian Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko.

Rescue operations have been diligently underway in Chernihiv, a city located about 45 miles south of the Ukraine-Belarus border. Crews are committed to working to clear debris and extinguish fires ignited by the Russian missile strike, to ensure the safety of the affected area.
