The Long Beach Recovery Act launched the Long Beach Pledge in 2022 which intends to provide payments worth $500 to 250 eligible families with children every month for 12 months.

An article in Washington Examiner states that the Guaranteed Income pilot program is in collaboration with the Fund for Guaranteed Income, a nonprofit organization that financially assists families living in the west-central 90813 ZIP code. Aside from Long Beach, a different Guaranteed Income pilot program was also launched in the city of Compton which intends to provide $300 to $800 to 800 eligible families.

Who will qualify for the Guaranteed Income pilot program?

According to an article in The Gazette, an area in Long Beach was selected to receive payments from the Guaranteed Income pilot program due to the heavy impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and its poverty rates where almost half of the residents live below 150% of the federal poverty line.

The website of the Long Beach Pledge states that to qualify for the Guaranteed Income pilot program, an individual must live below 100% of the poverty line and have only one income earner in the household. Selected households can receive their Guaranteed Income pilot program payments either through direct deposit, a prepaid card, PayPal, or Venmo.
