A Camp Pendleton Marine from California was charged with sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl. Reports say the teenager went missing for more than two weeks before military police found her inside a barracks.
Military prosecutors charged an unnamed Camp Pendleton Marine with sexual assault of a minor after abusing a 14-year-old girl. Furthermore, Capt. Charles Palmer of the 1st Marine Logistics Group stated that a preliminary hearing was scheduled on August 17 where authorities will decide whether the Camp Pendleton Marine will face a court-martial.In addition, an article in Orange County Register states that the Camp Pendleton Marine also faced charges of violating liberty restrictions from an unrelated case in the past. To date, the identities of the Camp Pendleton Marine and the victim remained undisclosed, as well as when and how the two met and how the latter was able to enter the California base.

Disappearance of the Victim
According to an article in NBC News, the Camp Pendleton Marine’s victim of sexual assault had been missing for more than 2 weeks when military police found her inside a barracks last June 28. Further reports say the victim’s grandmother stated that the teenager had run away in early June.
Other relatives also speculated that the victim was sold by a sex trafficker to the Camp Pendleton Marine. Fortunately, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department announced that the victim was already returned to her grandmother in Spring Valley.
