Rapper Tory Lanez’s sentence was to a 10-year on Tuesday after being declared guilty on three felony charges for shooting singer Megan Thee Stallion in July 2020, Extra TV reported.

Rapper Tory Lanez Found Guilty

Rapper Tory Lanez was found guilty of assaulting Megan using a semi-automatic firearm, recklessly discharging a firearm, and possessing a loaded, unregistered firearm within a vehicle. The unanimous verdict of Rapper Tory Lanez came from a jury at Los Angeles Superior Court after a nine-day trial that concluded on December 23, 2022.

Alex Spiro, the attorney representing Megan, praised the jury’s verdict, affirming, “The jury made the correct determination. I express gratitude for the presence of justice for Meg.” The sentencing process considered multiple aspects, with both sides’ attorneys presenting various factors. Judge David Herriford heard statements from seven witnesses regarding Rapper Tory Lanez’s past trauma, his young son, and his philanthropic efforts.

Singer Iggy Azalea also weighed in, sending a letter to the judge advocating for a sentence that is “transformative, not life-destroying.” Megan’s poignant account given in court had a profound effect. She recounted, “I was in disbelief. I felt fear and shock. The sound of a gunshot startled me. I couldn’t fathom that he was firing at me. He gripped the firearm and aimed it in my direction.”

Rapper Tory Lanez Sentencing

Despite not being physically present during the sentencing of Rapper Tory Lanez, Megan’s statement was read aloud by Los Angeles County Deputy District Attorney Kathy Ta. Megan conveyed her continuous battle following the occurrence, declaring, “Ever since the defendant’s brutal shooting, not a single day has passed without turmoil. Gradually, I am recovering and returning, but I will forever be altered,” Reuters reported

Rapper Tory Lanez, who did not testify during the trial, maintained that a third person was responsible for firing the shot.
