Donell Anderson: Detained for disappearance and passing of Imani Roberson

Report from CNN, at a news conference on Saturday, Rockdale County Sheriff Eric Levett informed the media that Donell Anderson had been detained and charged in relation to the disappearance and passing of Imani Roberson.

When Roberson left her mother’s house after supper on July 16 in Atlanta, she was traveling with two of her kids. The following day, without receiving a response, her mother, Clarine Andujar-White, made numerous attempts to get in touch with her.

When Andujar-White finally went to her daughter’s house in Conyers, which is 24 miles east of Atlanta, she discovered it to be deserted.

On July 17, after Andujar-White reported Roberson missing, authorities started their hunt. After inspecting the residence, investigators became instantly suspicious. According to the sheriff, it was obvious that foul play was involved in Imani’s disappearance.

According to the sheriff’s office, Roberson’s home and numerous other locations had blood. Roberson’s automobile was discovered after it had been burned out more than a week later.

Authorities were prepared to press charges against her spouse by the time her body was discovered on Friday with K-9 help.

When that body was discovered, according to Levett, it was their goal to make sure they could persuade their courts and/or the district attorney’s office that they had sufficient evidence to obtain a warrant and have him taken off the streets.

Accused for multiple charges

Anderson has been accused with felony murder, malice murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm when trying a felony, according to online records for Rockdale County.

Although Anderson will eventually hire a private attorney, a public defender represented him in court on Sunday morning, according to the sheriff’s office.

Requests for comment from the Rockdale County Public Defender’s office were not immediately fulfilled.

Levett also assured reporters that the investigation is ongoing and that another person will be detained in connection with the case.

During the press conference, Roberson’s parents each gave a statement.

Ronald Acklin, Roberson’s father, broke down in tears during the press conference and said he has lost children before and was ready for the news of Roberson’s passing.

During the meeting, Levett emphasized the risks of domestic abuse and urged victims to speak up.

Levett advised anyone who is in a toxic relationship—whether they are experiencing emotional, verbal, or physical abuse—to come forward and speak up so that tragedies like this can be prevented. It is not worth remaining quiet, he added. These four children are now fatherless and, regrettably, without a mother, reports from KAKE.

According to Levett, the grandchildren will now be cared for by their grandparents.

On Monday in Conyers, there will be a candlelit memorial service for Roberson.
