Using their extra budgetary resources, several states have intervened to provide residents with targeted relief. In order to assist those who are struggling due to the persistently high inflation rate, many states have been offering financial assistance to their citizens over the past couple of years in the form of stimulus checks, child tax credits, rebates, and other payments. Some states are still giving residents financial aid or have just begun. This list shows the states that are still sending rebate checks.
States That Are Still Sending Rebate Checks
In the article from ValueWalk, here are some states that are still sending rebate checks:
New Mexico- Beginning in mid-June, New Mexico began mailing rebate cheques worth up to $1,000 to married taxpayers filing jointly and up to $500 to qualified single filers. Residents who file their 2021 state income tax return by May 31, 2024, are eligible for this reimbursement. So, individuals who haven’t yet submitted their 2021 return have until May 2024 to do so in order to receive the rebate money.
The state is additionally providing financial assistance to non-filers. Non-filers were required to submit an application for the funds through the now-closed portal of the New Mexico Human Services Department. The deadline for applications was June 23. By the end of July, the state was supposed to send those rebate cheques.

Minnesota- Minnesota legislators passed a law allowing for one-time direct tax rebate payments in May 2023. Individuals with an adjusted gross income of $75,000 or less will receive $260, and married couples filing jointly with an adjusted gross income of $150,000 or less would receive $520. In addition, dependents who qualify (up to three) will earn $260 apiece.
The reimbursements will be sent out this fall, and Minnesota will use residents’ 2021 income tax returns or property tax filings to establish eligibility. If anything has changed since residents filed their 2021 returns, the Minnesota Department of Revenue has recently launched a secure online site where individuals can amend their address or bank information.
Montana- Three different rebate payments are currently being processed in Montana. The first payments are the refunds of individual income taxes included in House Bill 192, which was approved on March 13 and became law. The state began delivering refund payments last month and anticipates sending the majority of them by August 31. Individuals may receive up to $1,250, while married taxpayers filing jointly may receive up to $2,500.
Second, House Bill 222, which will offer up to $1,350 in property tax rebates over the following two years, was just signed into law by Governor Greg Gianforte. Under HB222, homeowners will receive a property tax relief of up to $675 in 2023 and 2024. The deadline to submit a claim for this year’s rebate is Oct. 1, 2023, and eligible homeowners can do so starting on August 15, 2023.
Last but not least, House Bill 587, which will give homeowners a permanent property tax break worth over $120 million, was recently signed into law by Governor Gianforte, reports from 247wallst.com.
