A father allegedly shot and killed his 8-year-old son before taking his own life. The incident took place on Thursday night in the 500 block of Heritage Oak Drive in Lower Makefield Township, CBS News reported.
The devastating murder-suicide came to light when the police conducted a wellness check at the residence. Upon arrival, officers discovered a child lying on the floor inside the home. Concerned for their safety, the officers kicked in the door and found both the 47-year-old father and his young son with gunshot wounds to their heads.
Lower Makefield Township’s police chief, Kenneth Coluzzi, stated that no one else was present in the home during the shooting. The mother of the family was informed of the tragic situation by the police.
