The implications of recent decisions made by the Supreme Court regarding education, including student loans and affirmative action, have the potential to significantly influence the voting patterns of young individuals, who represent a substantial portion of borrowers facing the collective burden of over $1 trillion in student loan debt.

According to the Generation Lab poll of Axios, a significant portion of respondents assigned responsibility for the unforgiven student debt as follows:

  • 47% held the Supreme Court accountable.
  • 38% placed the blame on the Republican party.
  • 10% attributed responsibility to President Biden.
  • 5% pointed fingers at the Democrats.

Interestingly, over half of those polled disagreed with the Supreme Court’s ruling, demonstrating the depth of dissatisfaction with the Court’s decision and their unforgiven student debt.

Only 17% of respondents agreed with the ruling, while 21% were unsure about their stance on the matter when it comes to their unforgiven student debt.

Notably, three-quarters of those surveyed were aware of the Supreme Court’s ruling before participating in the poll, indicating the issue’s resonance among young Americans in their unforgiven student debt.

Biden’s Plan B

The administration announced that it would alleviate $39 billion of debt for approximately 804,0 00 borrowers.

Nevertheless, this plan might not suffice to sway young voters who are passionate about student debt forgiveness.
