Idaho Student Murders Case: University To Put Demolition of Crime Scene On Hold

The President of the University of Idaho announced that the demolition of the house where the Idaho student murders happened will be put on hold. Nonetheless, further reports say the decision will be reconsidered in October.

On July 12, Scott Green, the President of the University of Idaho announced that the university will suspend its plans to demolish the rental house where the Idaho student murders happened in November 2022. Along with the announcement, Green also sent an email to the students and the staff.

According to Sabes, Green stated that in response to the Idaho student murders tragedy, some individuals prefer the demolition of the crime scene as it serves as a constant reminder of the Idaho student murders. On the other hand, others fear that the demolition of the Idaho student murders crime scene could have an effect on the case in court.

Green added that once the remediation of the Idaho student murders crime scene is complete, the demolition will be put on hold. Nonetheless, by October, Green stated that the decision will be reconsidered.

According to Ruiz, three of the victims of the Idaho student murders, Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle, and Kaylee Goncalves were among the five occupants of the rental house in King Road, Moscow. Ethan Chapin was in a relationship with Kernodle and stayed the night on November 13, 2022, when all four victims were murdered by Bryan Kohberger.
