Judge Recommends Rio Grande River Management Settlement Be Approved by Supreme Court

A federal judge recommended that the Supreme Court approve a settlement over the management of the Rio Grande River. Reports say the settlement will be how Colorado, New Mexico, and Texas split the management of the river.

However, an article in ABC News states that it remains uncertain as to when the Supreme Court will accept the recommendation of settling the management of the Rio Grande River. This is because the high court had just issued rulings on gay rights, affirmative action, and President Joe Biden’s Student Loan Forgiveness Plan.

Rio Grande River Settlement

According to an article in PinalCentral.com, in 2022, the three western states reached the proposed settlement for the Rio Grande River. However,  the federal government opposed the proposal for many reasons. Furthermore, the proposal was dismissed because it did not use limitations in New Mexico or mandate specific water collection.
