Acupuncturist Was Killed Due To Love Triangle

A Hawaii man charged with murder after shooting to death an acupuncturist who was having an affair with his wife wasn’t the only person with a motive to kill him, a defense attorney told jurors at the start of the Hawaii love triangle murder trial.

2022 Valentine’s Day, Eric Thompson was arrested and has been under house arrest in an upscale Honolulu Hawaii neighborhood. According to Police, Thompson shot Jon Tokuhara, an acupuncturist treating Thompson’s wife, after discovering the affair through Instagram messages and videos.

Thompson’s defense attorney said that Tokuhara had a track record of cheating, including with women who had families. Tokuhara has been ghosting women that would have had the same motive, attorney David Hayakawa said, the Honolulu Star-Advertiser reported.

Hayakawa said that the police disregard possible leads for the suspects, noting that Tokuhara was a gambler and nearly $4,000 in cash was found next to his body in his office.

Thompson And Wife Were High School Sweethearts

The couple were high school sweethearts and Tokuhara ruined the couple’s image of a perfect life and that’s why Thompson killed him, KHON-TV reported a prosecutor saying.

Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Benjamin Rose claimed that Thompson shot Tokuhara four times in the face.

A Surveillance video shows Thompson parked his car near Tokuhara’s office and headed in wearing a hat and sunglasses, police said. However, the hat that fell on the street as Thompson was fleeing, police had it tested with DNA testing abs was confirmed that it was worn by Thompson.

The love triangle murder trial continued Thursday and the judge expects it to wrap up by the end of the month, KITV reported.
