An unnamed man who stabbed a national guard officer outside the Embassy of Brazil in La Goulette, Tunis was arrested. Reports say the attack was the second incident that targeted police officers in two weeks.
On July 3, the interior ministry stated that a man stabbed a national guard officer in La Goulette, a suburb of Tunis, the capital of Tunisia. Fortunately, the national guard officer was immediately transported to a hospital and his condition was declared stable.An article in USNews.com states that interior ministry stated that the police authorities have already arrested the suspect. To date, the reason of the attack that targeted the national guard officer remains unknown.
However, the attack was the second incident that targeted police officers in the span of two weeks. Reports say last month, a policeman was also stabbed on duty outside the Brazilian embassy. Unfortunately, the policeman died.
Trooper Killed in Pennsylvania
According to an article in 6ABC, on June 17, Brandon Stine, 38, shot at police cars in the barracks in Mifflintown, Pennsylvania. After fleeing the crime scene, a manhunt for Stine immediately began which involved helicopter reinforcement.
During the manhunt, Jacques F. Rougeau Jr., 29, a Pennsylvania police trooper, came across Stine in what is considered an ambush. Unfortunately, Stine’s gunshot went through the windshield of Rougeau Jr.’s police car and killed him.
