Minnesota Investigators Link Joseph Jorgenson And Two Women Found Dead In Storage Units

Minnesota investigators found a human remains which they identified as a woman who had been missing for two years was found in a storage unit.

On Friday police had claimed that her death has been connected to Joseph Jorgenson, a 40-year-old who was charged after another woman’s dismembered body was found in a different storage unit in another Minneapolis suburb.

Joseph Jorgenson was a probable suspect that is linked to the 33-year-old Fanta Xayavong’s remains discovered in storage units on July 6.

However, Jorgenson is not yet charged in Xayavong’s death but was charged last week with second-degree murder in connection with the death of 33-year-old Manijeh “Mani” Starren, according to Minneapolis Star Tribune reported.

Thursday, Xayavong’s remains were discovered in a Coon Rapids storage unit, while Starren’s body was found last month in a storage unit in Woodbury.

Jorgenson is the “person of interest” in Xayavong’s death after Minnesota investigators linked him to Starren’s case whose body is also found in a storage unit, according to St. Paul police Sgt. Mike Ernster.

Police are currently investigating to resolve if Jorgenson could be connected to any other missing individuals.

Minnesota Investigators Began The Investigation On May

NBC News reported that in May, the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension received information that Xayavong before her disappearance in July 2021, she had been in an abusive relationship with Jorgenso. Minnesota investigator also stated that Starren and Jorgenson had also been in a relationship before her death.

Police are still determining where or when Xayavong was killed, Ernster said.  Friday, Minnesota Investigators searched a house that Jorgenson used to live in until last September.

Moreover, in Starren’s case, she was reported missing on May 1 after family members reported her missing.  Minnesota Investigators found her body after Jorgenson barricaded himself in his apartment and started a fire when police attempted to search the apartment on June 26 and he fought with officers reason for his arrest.

A review of Jorgenson’s cell phone activity directed the police to the storage unit in Woodbury, where they discovered Starren’s body. Court documents stated that prosecutors believe Jorgenson dismembered Starren’s body and carried her remains out of the apartment in Maplewood in duffel bags and a small suitcase.

Video surveillance from the apartment showed Starren attempting to flee from Jorgenson on April 21 before he caught her and pushed her back inside. Starren wasn’t seen leaving the apartment again.

Police are still investigating if Jorgenson is linked to other deaths. In the Starren case, Jorgenson has not yet entered a plea and his next court appearance is scheduled for August 21.

Jorgenson’s attorney couldn’t be reached for comment.

Police are urging anyone with information about the case that could lead to the arrest of the suspect in the death of  Xayavong to contact the BCA tip line at 877-996-6222 or email [email protected].
