Lynn Kelly punched a bear in the face after the animal started chasing her dog. Unfortunately, the bear retaliated and bit the Maine woman in her right hand.
On June 30, Lynn Kelly, 64, was in her backyard in the town of Porter in Maine when she heard her dog barking and noticed him run into the woods. Upon returning, the Maine woman saw that her dog was already being chased by a bear.According to Sottile, the Maine woman then ran over to where her dog had gone and called him repeatedly. When the dog came up, the bear was allegedly behind him. The Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife stated in a release that the Maine woman confronted the bear head on as she stood up as tall as she could and punched the animal in the face.

Bear Bit Maine Woman
Unfortunately, an article in CBS News states that the bear retaliated and bit the Maine woman in her right hand. Following the bite, the bear let go of the Maine woman and ran back into the woods. However, the bite reportedly left puncture wounds in the Maine woman’s wrist.
Fortunately, after calling 911, the Maine woman was immediately transported to a local hospital where she was treated for her wounds. Thereafter, the Maine woman was released and her dog was unharmed.
On the other hand, since the attack, the bear has not been seen around. However, the department stated that they have placed two live traps to attempt to capture the bear after it was seen eating birdseed in neighbors’ yards days before the incident.
