Biden Calls for Voter Empowerment

With the court’s conservative majority dealing blows to his plans, Biden has shifted his approach. Biden’s strategy is evident in both the messaging from the White House and its legal tactics.

While respecting the court’s authority, Biden is vocal about his belief that the court is straying from mainstream constitutional interpretation, a published news article reported. Although Biden has achieved victories in cases before a court dominated by conservatives, such as immigration, the recent defeat on student loans highlighted the significant roadblocks imposed by the justices.

By highlighting the court’s actions, Biden aims to rally support for his agenda and create momentum for the upcoming 2024 election through voter empowerment.

Although Biden has refrained from pushing for significant reshaping of the Supreme Court, he emphasizes voter empowerment and warns voters about potential future actions, such as rolling back same-sex marriage rights or access to contraception.

While acknowledging the court’s autonomy as a means of advancing social change in the past, Biden believes that expanding the court could result in long-term politicization that may be detrimental to voter empowerment.

Legal experts suggest various alternatives that Democratic politicians could embrace to push back against the court, including expanding the size of the Supreme Court or lower courts, limiting the court’s jurisdiction in certain cases, establishing term limits, and implementing ethics reforms.

These options would acknowledge the court’s politicization and provide avenues for Democratic politicians to address the current dynamics.

As the 2024 election approaches, Biden emphasizes voter empowerment and aims to make voters aware of the consequences of the court’s decisions and seeks their support to further his agenda.
