Maryland State Trooper Arrested, Charged for Possession of Child Pornography

Christopher Black, Sr. was arrested and charged with possessing child pornography materials. Reports say the ICAC Task Force received a tip that the Maryland state trooper uploaded child pornography online.

On April 6, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children provided a tip to the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force that an online user uploaded a photo that depicted possible child pornography. The user was later identified as Christopher Black, Sr., 48, who was a veteran of the Maryland State Police for more than 21 years.

According to Wehner, the ICAC’s Computer Crimes Unit conducted a search warrant at the Maryland state trooper’s residence where they discovered and obtained a personal computer for forensic analysis. Following an analysis, the computer allegedly contained child pornography materials.

Charges Against the Maryland State Trooper

An article in the CBS News states that the ICAC officials discussed with the State’s Attorney’s Office of Cecil County about the case and an arrest warrant was issued for the Maryland state trooper. On July 7, the Maryland state trooper was arrested without incident.

Thereafter, the Maryland state trooper was processed at the North East Barrack, where he was employed as a sergeant, and was later interrogated by a District Court commissioner. The Maryland state trooper was then charged with six counts of possession of child pornography.

The Maryland state trooper’s authority as a police officer has also been suspended. However, he will continue to receive pay while awaiting the outcome of the investigation.
