After years of research, the California Reparations Task Force proposed more than a hundred recommendations to the state’s lawmakers. The compiled report is acclaimed as a blueprint for other states to follow with regard to reparations.

The California Reparations Task Force recently concluded two years of a comprehensive research that details the damage of slavery on Black people in the state. The compiled report is a research made by historians, economists, politicians, and observations from the community over several public hearings.

According to Bunn, the California Reparations Task Force presented hundreds of recommendations regarding financial compensation and policies and programs to rectify historical wrongs. The report has been acclaimed by the California Reparations Task Force as a blueprint for the other U.S. states to follow with regard to reparations.

California Reparations Task Force Finalized Recommendations

An article in NBC News states that two members of the California Reparations Task Force, Assemblyman Reggie Jones-Sawyer and Senator Steven Bradford, were tasked to digest the compiled report and finalize the recommendations to be forwarded to Governor Gavin Newsom to sign into law.

However, both members of the California Reparations Task Force states that the challenging parts of the task are getting all the state Assembly members to read the whole report and garnering support for the reparations from their colleagues.
