These diverse ethnic backgrounds have significantly influenced Detroit’s contributions to the music, art, and architectural industries.

  • Riverdale

Riverdale is listed as one of the worst neighborhoods in Detroit because Riverdale is known as the most dangerous and depressing place. It has a low socioeconomic index and a high crime rate, Riverdale is not a place for the faint-hearted.

The low socioeconomic index indicated a 5.6 percent rate of unemployed compared to the national unemployment average of 6 percent, a median household income of $29,691 compared to a national average of $64,994, and education levels that are very low with only 26 percent of its population having a high school diploma.

The gang presence activity in Riverdale is due to the neighborhood’s closeness to major highways. Pushing the neighborhood into a crime hotspot and having a high homicide rate compared to other Detroit neighborhoods.

  •  Chaldean Town

The Chaldean town only has a population of about 1200 people and a median household income of $16,200, 71 percent below the national average. According to Roadsnacks, the neighborhood’s unemployment rate is 24 percent, 429 percent higher than the national average.

Despite its beautiful Catholic background, the Chaldean town has been among the worst neighborhoods in Detroit due to unemployment, the housing crisis, high crime rates, and low education ranks. Recent years have seen people move out of this neighborhood in droves due to its worsening situation.

  • Greensbriar

Greensbriar is undoubtedly one of the worst neighborhoods in Detroit because it is a very dangerous place to live because of these toxic elements of high unemployment and poverty rates, together with an overall low education status.

The crime rate of 178 percent higher compared to the Detroit average, this neighborhood is overrun by gangs, drugs, and illegal actions. Because of its high crime rate, people moved out of Greensbriar, and its housing market collapsed. The collapse left a lot of abandoned and shabby buildings, which are perfect hideout grounds for criminal activities for many of the gangs and drug dealers in the area.
