On June 29, a motion filed by prosecutors stated that an unnamed witness accused Hannah Gutierrez Reed of handing a small bag of cocaine to another person. The motion added that the handover happened after the Rust film armorer returned from being interviewed by the police on the day of the fatal shooting.According to Razek, the Rust film armorer was charged last week with tampering with evidence in connection with the death of the film’s cinematographer Halyna Hutchins in New Mexico on October 21, 2021. Furthermore, earlier this year, the Rust film armorer was also charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter.

New Charges Against the Rust Film Armorer
However, according to Jacobs, Jason Bowles, the Rust film armorer’s attorney, argued that the new charges against his client was a “character assassination”. Bowles claimed that an unnamed witness who suddenly appears several months later is deceitful and unjustifiable tactics from the state.
In addition, the Rust film armorer’s counsel also criticized the new charges thrown in by the special prosecutor last week without any prior notice, witness statements, laboratory reports, or substantial evidence to support the allegations.
