Murder Suspect Wanted for Girlfriend’s Death Commits Suicide After Stalking Memorial in Texas

Juan Carlos Mata was spotted loitering around the memorial of his girlfriend who he was accused of killing. However, when officers approached the murder suspect, he allegedly grabbed a gun and shot himself.

On the evening of June 26, Leslie Reyes, 19, was reportedly murdered in the parking lot of an apartment complex in Texas. The officers of the Pasadena Police Department initially described Reyes’ boyfriend, Juan Carlos Mata, 20, as a person of interest.

According to Casiano, the investigators believe that Mata was in the parking lot, waiting for Reyes to return home prior to the incident. Thereafter, Mata was accused of shooting Reyes which led to her death at the scene. The Pasadena Police then began searching for Mata after being identified as the murder suspect.

Murder Suspect Commits Suicide

According to Donlevy, on June 29, at around 5:40 a.m., the Pasadena Police responded to the apartment complex once again following reports of a suspicious male loitering around the makeshift memorial built to honor Reyes.

Reportedly, when a police officer approached the male in question, he went behind a vehicle, grabbed a shotgun, and shot himself to death. Authorities later identified the person as the murder suspect.
