After three weeks of trial and a day and a half of deliberation, a jury of six men and six women returned a verdict against Lawrence “Larry” Rudolph

Rudolph, 67, is charged with murder abroad in the death of Bianca Rudolph in Zambia in 2016 as well as mail fraud to collect $4.8 million in life insurance payments that prosecutors describe as a deliberate crime. Some of the money came from Colorado, and he was indicted in federal court in Denver. Rudolf maintained his innocence, and his two adult children with his wife also appeared in court and supported him during the trial. One of Rudolph’s lawyers, David Markus said he plans to appeal the conviction.

The couple’s longtime hunting guide, Mark Swanepoel, told investigators that Rudolph fired a shotgun the day before the shooting

Rudolf testified that he could not remember whether he had done so when he returned to Phoenix a few days later, he said Mr. Rudolf didn’t want to see the shotgun so he put it in the garage.

Then sometime in 2018 as he was preparing to sell his home before he knew the FBI was investigating his wife’s death, he disassembled the gun and put it in two cardboard boxes where a man he said he paid cash and took it with the other guns.
