Texas Governor Greg Abbott has scheduled an immediate special session and has announced the agenda that will be discussed which was expected to take place on Monday night.
Governor Abbot Sets Special Session
Texas Governor Greg Abbott has set an immediate special session to focus on topics beneficial to Texans.
The immediate special session was scheduled on Memorial Day night and began at 9 p.m. and is considered to be the number one special session, Click 2 Houston reported.
This special session focuses only on cutting property taxes and cracking down on illegal human smuggling, according to information provided by Governor Abbott’s office.
In a statement, Governor Abbot said property taxes should be cut and they added $17.6 billion to do this during the regular session.
However, the congress could not agree on ways to distribute funds to accomplish this goal.

Special Session Topics
Governor Abbott listed several other topics which he says he will soon sign into law to make Texas an advanced state. Some of the laws include:

Ending COVID restrictions and mandates

Provide and allot more than a $5.1 billion budget to secure the border and support the Texas Department of Public Safety, Texas National Guard, and the border wall;

Establish Mexican drug cartels as foreign terrorist organizations;

Prosecuting fentanyl deaths as murder;

Protecting women’s sports and female collegiate athletes;
-
Focusing community colleges on preparing Texas students for high-skill careers;

Increasing electric power generation to secure the Texas power grid;

Hold rogue district attorneys accountable;
-
Protect children from life-altering gender mutilation;
-
Prohibit illegal DEI hiring procedures in colleges and universities;
-
Add and allocated $1.4 billion fund to make Texas schools safer;
-
Require armed security at all schools;
-
Provide easy access to mental healthcare for students at all schools;
-
Require regular safety checks of school buildings.
These topics are the main focus of the Governor during the special session.
